Thai elder woman likely victim of identity theft

A jobless 71-year-old woman in Phetchaburi province was more than surprised recently to receive a notice from the Revenue Department ordering her to pay Bt1.7 million tax or face legal action.

Pin Siriruang of Ban Lad district complained to authorities, saying she has no job, is poor and too old to work, so how can she have earned sufficient income to warrant tax of Bt1.7 million.
