Thai Embassy in Japan hunts for 832 missing Thais

The Thai embassy in Tokyo is focusing on helping 832 Thais who are unaccounted for in the worst-affected parts of tsunami-hit Japan.

The ministry reported on Thursday that about 5,000 Thais were unaccounted for in Japan.

However, the latest check found only 832 Thais living in Iwate, Miyagi and Fukushima prefectures, which were the worst hit by last week’s earthquake and tsunami, were still out of contact, said Foreign Ministry spokesman Thani Thongphakdi.
