2 dead, 3 wounded in Narathiwat teashop attack

NARATHIWAT, March 16 – Two persons were killed and three others were wounded in a shooting by presumed insurgents at a teashop in Narathiwat’s Ruso district late Tuesday night while a cow herder on Wednesday was seriously wounded in a Pattani’s Sai Buri ambush.

Defence Volunteer Arom Yothatip and Pop Tongkaew, a 55-year-old civilian, were shot dead when two gunmen armed with M16 and AK47 assault rifles sprayed about 30 bullets into a tea shop in Ruso district of restive Narathiwat.

The gun shots also wounded Defence Volunteer Sunan Maneerat, Defence Volunteer La-ong Yothatip and a female villager. All three were hospitalised at Ruso Hospital.
