Thai Army Finds Suspects in Arms Theft

The army chief says his agency has already known which officers were involved in the recent theft of anti-tank rockets from its arsenal in Lop Buri province.

Army chief General Anupong Paochinda said the investigation suggested some army officers collaborated with outsiders to steal rocket-propelled grenades from the Lop Buri arms depot.

Anupong said the army will extend the investigation against more soldiers possibly involved in the cime and pledged those found guilty must face both disciplinary and criminal actions.

The general also said the meeting of the Center for the Resolution of Emergency Situation has also discussed the whereabouts of those missing rockets and affirmed he has instructed all units under his command to apply stricter control measures on arms depots.
