Torrential Rain Turns Pattaya Into a Mini-Venice

12 October 09, Pattaya, [PDN]: By the evening of 11 October, after two-three hours of non-stop rain in Pattaya, the city was almost inundated, some locations being under as much as 50 cm. of water, with grid-lock prevailing on all the main roads.

Starting from 4.00pm, both sides of Sukhumvit Road, the city’s main arterial route, was clogged with traffic, tail-backs of up to 5 kms. long being seen.

The most affected areas were in front of Nongyai Temple, the highway police station, the Mahatai Centre Pattaya and in front of the Lotus supermarket. Some roads in Pattaya City even contained water higher than 50 cm., such as the 2nd and 3rd Roads, Central Pattaya Road and Soi Baukow.

Many villages in the Banglamung area had been suffering, too.
