Thai King’s Condition ‘Good,’ Palace Says, After Market Jitters

Oct. 15 (Bloomberg) — Thai King Bhumibol Adulyadej’s “general condition is good,” the royal household said, dousing speculation that the 81-year-old monarch’s health had worsened during a 26-day stay in a hospital.

“A further period of recovery of lung pneumonia is necessary, as in case of the elderly,” a faxed statement from the Royal Household Bureau received last night said. The Committee of Royal Physicians “has requested that His Majesty remain in hospital in order to improve his nutrition status and to provide continuous rehabilitation therapies,” it said.
