Cold Snap Descends on Thailand, Temperatures to Drop 1–4°C Nationwide

BANGKOK – A strong high-pressure system sweeping down from China is set to bring a noticeable chill across Thailand starting tomorrow, with temperatures expected to fall by 1 to 4 degrees Celsius, the Meteorological Department announced today.

Thailand Braces for Nationwide Temperature Drop as Cool Season Intensifies

The cooling air mass will first blanket the northern and northeastern regions before spreading across the rest of the country. The northeast is forecast to see the sharpest decline, with temperatures dropping by 2–4°C. Other regions, including Bangkok and the central provinces, will experience a milder but still significant decrease of 1–3°C.

Regional Forecast:

  • North: Minimum temperatures of 13–18°C, with morning fog expected. Mountainous areas will be considerably colder, ranging from 3–13°C, accompanied by winds of 10–20 kph.

  • Northeast: Lows of 13–18°C, with highland areas cooling to 8–15°C.

  • Central Plains: Cool and windy conditions, with minimum temperatures of 16–19°C and winds of 10–30 kph.

  • Bangkok and Vicinity: Lows of 20–23°C.

  • East: Strong winds and cooler weather, with temperatures dropping to 17–22°C.

  • South (Eastern Coast): Thunderstorms forecast over 20% of the area, with minimum temperatures of 18–24°C.

  • South (Western Coast): Isolated thunderstorms over about 10% of the area, with lows of 22–24°C.

Severe Storms, Temperature Drop Expected Across Thailand

The department advised residents, especially in the north and northeast, to prepare for the sudden change in weather and to take care of their health. The cooler conditions are expected to persist for several days as the high-pressure system maintains its influence over the region.
