BANGKOK – Former People’s Party MP for Chachoengsao province, Jirat Thongsuwan, was sentenced to two years in prison today after being found guilty by the Criminal Court on charges of using falsified documents to evade military conscription.

The case followed a complaint filed with the commander of the Territorial Defence Command alleging that Jirat had submitted a fraudulent ‘Sor Dor 43’ document to secure an exclusion from the draft. A subsequent investigation confirmed the document was counterfeit, leading Prachachuen police to pursue legal action.
