Pakistani National Arrested for Alleged Sexual Harassment of Autistic Woman in Udon Thani

UDON THANI — A 32-year-old Pakistani man was arrested on Saturday for allegedly attempting to sexually harass an 18-year-old autistic woman in a dormitory and for illegally entering Thailand. The suspect, identified as Ahmed Waka, faces charges of illegal immigration and is under investigation for the harassment allegation.

The incident occurred around 1:00 p.m. on September 20, when police responded to a report from the Rompho Thong radio center about a foreign national committing indecent acts in a dormitory on Kanti Rak Alley. The victim, referred to as Ms. A, lived with her mother, who was at work during the incident. According to the mother, Ahmed had previously made her daughter uncomfortable by staring and approaching her. On the day of the attack, he entered Ms. A’s room under the guise of asking for laundry instructions, then hugged her and attempted inappropriate contact.

The dormitory caretaker, Ms. Bow, stated that Ahmed had rented a room for less than a month and claimed to live with a Thai woman he called his girlfriend. However, the woman denied any relationship and confirmed she did not possess his passport, as he had alleged.

Police investigations revealed that Ahmed had no formal entry records into Thailand after a trip two years ago, suggesting he entered the country illegally. He denied the harassment allegations but was charged with illegal entry. The case underscores concerns about undocumented foreigners and the safety of vulnerable residents in shared accommodations. Authorities are continuing their investigation and urge the public to report suspicious behavior.
