SAMUT PRAKAN – Police are hunting a daring thief who posed as a food delivery rider to steal gold jewelry worth 8.6 million baht from a shopping mall in Samut Prakan on Tuesday evening.

The suspect, concealed in a full-face helmet and a rider’s jacket, snatched 59 gold bracelets weighing 163 baht (about 2.4 kilograms) before fleeing the scene. Investigators from Bang Bor Police Station are scouring security footage to track the getaway route, with initial leads suggesting the robber escaped along Theparat (Bang Na-Trat) Road toward Chonburi province.

Authorities are examining whether the thief was an actual delivery rider or simply used the uniform as a disguise. Pol. Maj. Gen. Wichit Boonchinwuttikul, Samut Prakan’s police commander, confirmed that officers are questioning witnesses and gold shop staff while following up on potential escape routes.
