Ubon Ratchathani Hospital Limits Services for Cambodian Patients Amid Border Clashes
UBON RATCHATHANI — Sunpasitthiprasong Hospital, a major medical facility in this northeastern border province, has announced temporary restrictions on new Cambodian patients as it prioritizes treatment for those injured in ongoing armed clashes between Thai and Cambodian forces, the Bangkok Post reported.

Emergency Measures Implemented
Hospital director Dr. Monchai Wiwatthanasitthipong confirmed Thursday that services for new Cambodian patients would be suspended until August 10, though existing Cambodian inpatients would continue receiving care. The decision follows an internal memo circulated on social media about discontinuing Cambodian-language interpreters and non-emergency services for cross-border patients.
Resource Reallocation for Conflict Casualties
The hospital has canceled after-hours specialty clinics and postponed non-urgent surgeries to focus on treating wounded military personnel and civilians affected by skirmishes in border districts. “Our priority is ensuring adequate care for conflict victims while maintaining safety,” Dr. Monchai said, emphasizing that emergency cases would still be admitted regardless of nationality.

Border Hospitals Forced to Close
The provincial public relations office reported that three district hospitals—Nam Yuen, Nam Khun, and Na Chaluai—have shuttered due to proximity to combat zones, with patients relocated to safer facilities. Ubon Ratchathani remains a flashpoint in the conflict, which has displaced thousands and strained medical resources.
