Emergency Situation Law Extended in Far South

BANGKOK, Aug 23 (TNA) — The government’s committee overseeing emergency situations resolved to extend the imposition of the executive decree on public administration in emergency situations in three southern border provinces for three months until Dec 19.

Gen Wallop Raksanoh, secretary-general of the National Security Council, said the committee chaired by Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha extended the imposition of the special security law in Narathiwat, Pattani and Yala provinces from Sept 20. The imposition would spare Mae Lan district of Pattani, Betong district of Yala and Sungai Kolok and Sukhirin districts of Narathiwat.
