Thailand continues to wage war on human trafficking rackets

BANGKOK, 7 October 2016 (NNT) – The United States government has expressed admiration for Thailand’s war on human trafficking rackets and advised other ASEAN states to follow suit.

The U.S. authorities had openly appreciated the Thai war on human trafficking during a recent ASEAN-U.S. Defense Informal Meeting in Hawaii. Pol. Maj. Gen. Charuwat Waisaya, commissioner of the National Police’s Legal and Lawsuit Office, confirmed that Thailand will continue to crack down on human trafficking business after the country’s ranking had been moved up from Tier 3 to Tier 2 on the U.S. government’s Trafficking In Persons report.
