Faithful Buddhists participate in alms giving ceremony marking end of Buddhist Lent

SUKOTHAI, 16 October 2016 (NNT) – Thai nationals nationwide have come out to give alms to monks and make merit, marking the Buddhist Lent Season’s end and to pay their respects to the passing of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej.

The general public flocked to the streets of Sukothaitani district during the morning hours of October 16, to partake in the alms giving on the end of the Buddhist Lent Day, known as the Devo alms giving rites according to Theravada Buddhism, which is a tradition passed on by many generation of Thai people. The general public prepared various traditional food and dessert to offer them to monks.
