Over 2 Million People Caught in Disaster Area in China Following Typhoon Megi

16 towns and 107 counties in the provinces of Zhejiang, Fujian and Jiangsu in China were damaged by the typhoon, according to the statement of the Ministry of Civil Affairs of China (MCA).

BEIJING (Sputnik) — As many as 2.09 million people were caught in the disaster area in China caused by Typhoon Megi, the Ministry of Civil Affairs of China (MCA) said on Friday.

According to the ministry, 16 towns and 107 counties in the provinces of Zhejiang, Fujian and Jiangsu were damaged by the typhoon. The ministry added that 656,000 people from the affected areas were immediately evacuated, 1,200 houses have been destroyed and about 10,000 building were damaged.
