PM chairs addition of new transport jet to air force

BANGKOK, 31 August 2016 (NNT) – The Prime Minister has chaired a ceremony for the addition of a new VIP transport aircraft to the 603rd air fleet to enhance the transport capabilities of the Royal Thai Air Force.

Prime Minister Gen Prayuth Chan-ocha led a ceremony to add the Sukhoi Superjet 100 LR to the Royal Thai Air Force’s 603rd fleet. The Russian made aircraft was acquired to enhance the mission capability of the force and follows a Cabinet decree in 2013 for the air force to have 2 aircraft for the transport of important individuals. The acquisition was funded by the Office of the Secretariat of the Prime Minister and draws from the offices 2014-2016 budgets.
