Minister of Justice affirms to ASEAN Thailand will not legalize drugs

BANGKOK, 24 August 2016 (NNT) – The Minister of Justice has affirmed to the ASEAN community and other relevant nations that Thailand will not legalize narcotics.

Justice Minister Gen Paiboon Kumchaiya chaired the opening of the 37th high-level ASEAN meeting on narcotics taking place at Royal Orchid Sheraton Bangkok. The summit is being attended by Secretary-General of the Office of the Narcotics Control Board Sirinya Sittichai and his counterparts from across ASEAN as well as China, Japan, South Korea, India, Australia and the United Nations. The meeting is to focus on achievements over the past year in terms of suppressing narcotics as well as rehabilitation of drug addicts, research and other relevant developments.
