Cop transferred after allegedly receiving bribe from colleague

A BANGKOK policeman has been transferred to an inactive post to boost public confidence in the police force after he was charged with accepting a Bt700,000 bribe from a colleague who had paid the amount ostensibly in exchange for a promotion to inspector.

Captain Chaninthat Ratchinotrai, a Bang Rak Crime Police deputy inspector, faces up to five years in prison and a fine of up to Bt100,000 or both.
