Suspected Japanese father of surrogate babies fails to meet investigators

BANGKOK, 18 August 2014 (NNT) – The Japanese man suspected to be the father of at least 13 surrogate babies has failed to report himself to investigators after his lawyer earlier informed Thai authorities about the man’s plan to return to Thailand to meet the police on Monday.

Police Colonel Naiyawat Padermchit, commander of the Metropolitan Police Division 4, said that Mr. Mitsutoki Shigeta, a Japanese businessman at the centre of a surrogacy scandal and a human trafficking probe, has not met with investigators yet.
