Most Thai Labourers Heavily in Debt
A recent study has found that more than 90 per cent of Thai labourers are heavily in debt, with some having to borrow just to pay for day-to-day living.
The survey was conducted by the University of the Thai Chamber of Commerce between the 17th and 21st April. 1,200 labourers were asked about their income and their expenses.
The expenses of two thirds of labourers making less than 15,000 baht per month exceeded their income and half had to take out loans just to pay for food and accommodation.
