Muslim refugees in Songkhla fined, detained

SONGKHLA, March 15 – Songkhla District Court on Saturday fined some 200 Muslims refugees who claimed to be Turkish for illegal entry into the kingdom and seperately detained them to check whether they were actually from Turkey or involved with a human trafficking ring.

Officials from the Songkhla Immigration Office brought the Muslim refugees–69 men, 54 women and 95 children–to Songkhla District Court for legal action and the Court ordered a fine of Bt4,000 each for illegal entry into the country.
