Thai Commerce Ministry to sell 400,000 tonnes of rice this month

BANGKOK, Feb 4 – The Commerce Ministry will sell 400,000 tonnes of rice this month to earn money to partially pay farmers from the rice pledging scheme, its minister announced today.

Niwatthamrong Boonsongpaisarn, caretaker Deputy Prime Minister/Commerce Minister, said rice traders will be invited to join a bidding and results will be announced on Feb 14.
