Protest leader Sonthiyan Chuenruthainaitham released on bail

BANGKOK, 15 February 2014 (NNT) – Core leader of the People’s Democratic Reform Committee (PDRC) Sonthiyan Chuenruethainaitham, who had been in police custody on the charge of insurrection, was today released on bail worth 400,000 baht.

The Criminal Court today agreed to the request of the Department of Special Investigation (DSI) to extend the detention of Mr Sonthiyan, who was apprehended by police on February 10 and had been incarcerated at the Border Patrol Police Region 1 Headquarters in Pathum Thani. However, despite the extension, the court later gave the green light to his temporary release, with the bond set at 400,000 baht.
