Two Chiang Mai districts declared cold spell disaster zones

CHIANG MAI, 16 December 2013 (NNT) – Two more districts in the northern province of Chiang Mai have been declared disaster zones following a significant drop in temperatures.

Omkoi and Fang districts of Chiang Mai have been hit by lingering wintry conditions which affected nearly 60,000 residents. Local authorities have distributed warm clothes and blankets to villagers while warning that more cold weather could follow.

The Meteorological Department reported that temperatures in Thailand’s upper parts have recently dropped by 4-7 degrees Celsius.
