Frequent derailments prompt temporary shutdown of 300km northbound rail line

BANGKOK, Sept 6 – The State Railway of Thailand (SRT) will temporarily close a significant stretch of the popular northern rail route from Sila At to Chiang Mai stations for maintenance following a number of recent derailments across the country.

SRT Governor Prapas Jongsanguan said most accidents occurred in the north. The latest one was last night in Phrae province.
