BANGKOK, 19 March 2013 (NNT) – The Commerce Ministry of Thailand will step up the clampdown on copyright violations ahead the annual Songkran holiday arrives in mid-April.

Commerce Minister Nattawut Saikuar said on Monday that the first meeting of the sub-committee in charge of the National IPRs Center of Enforcement has approved the setting up of 6 new working groups to strengthen the clampdown of intellectual property and copyright infringement in the country.

Mr. Nattawut elaborated that the new working groups include such teams as the investigation and suppression unit, the law enforcement integration unit and the online copyright infringement suppression unit.

The Deputy Commerce Minister stated that all groups will commence work after the formation.
