Thai activist Ratree Pipattanapaiboon released from Cambodian prison

BANGKOK, Feb 1 – A Thai national detained in Cambodia for espionage and illegal entry has been granted a royal pardon and released on Friday on the occasion of the cremation of the country’s former king Norodom Sihanouk.

Cambodia’s Deputy Interior Minister went to the Prey Sar Prison in Phnom Penh to read the royal decree, giving royal pardons and prison term reductions for some 500 prisoners including the two Thai nationals Veera Somkwamkid, coordinator of Thailand’s Patriots Network, and his secretary Ratree Pipattanapaiboon.
