NEPC resolved to keep gasohol-diesel prices unchanged

BANGKOK, 16 March 2012 (NNT) – The state committee in charge of Thailand’s energy policy has decided to keep retail gasohol and diesel prices unchanged.

Energy Minister Arak Chonlatanon said on Thursday that the National Energy Policy Council (NEPC) meeting has resolved to keep the contribution from all fuel sales to the Oil Fund unchanged at the current level.

As a result, the prices of gasohol will not be raised any time soon.

Mr. Arak said that the decision to keep the Oil Fund contribution steady was intended to encourage the public to switch from benzene to gasohol.

A similar decision was also made for diesel sales.

The Energy Minister said that the decision to leave fuel sales contribution unchanged was made after related business operators had confirmed that they would not raise product prices of diesel, which remains at THB33 or under per a liter.
