BANGKOK, 17 January 2011 (NNT) – The Metropolitan Police Bureau has revealed that there are three other suspects involved in the terrorist plot in Bangkok; however, they are believed to have already fled Thailand.
According to Metropolitan Police Chief Police Lieutenant General Winai Thongsong, the police investigation revealed that the arrested suspect, Atris Hussien, had been renting a place in Thailand only to hide illegal substances, believed to be used for making bombs, before shipping them off to another country.
The shipping company allowed the police to probe the shipping documents based on the interrogation of Mr. Hussein. The police found no information on previous shipping of the explosive materials in the company’s history, which indicates that this was actually the suspect’s first attempt.
The Metropolitan Police Chief added, however, that the name of the other country, where the explosive components are expected to arrive, will remain confidential for security reasons.
As indicated by witnesses, Pol Lt Gen Winai claimed that three other Arabian suspects have been seen going in and out of the house in Samut Sakhon province, where a huge cache of explosive materials is stored. However, he believed all three of them had left Thailand.
