The Royal Thai Police Office will ask for help from the military to ensure law and order in Bangkok during the New Year festival, police spokesman Pol Maj-Gen Piya Uthayo said on Monday.

Border Patrol Police units would also be asked to help the metropolitan police ensure the safety of New Year celebrations in the capital city, he said.
