Onetime Democrat, later Thai Rak Thai, Somchai passes away

BANGKOK, April, 21 — Thai politician Somchai Sunthornwat, a former minister in Democrat and Thai Rak Thai governments, died Wednesday morning at age 72 after suffering from pancreatic cancer.

Funeral rites are being held at his home in the central province of Saraburi where he served as an MP for several terms.
