3 provinces in Southern Thailand experiencing flash floods

BANGKOK, 26 March 2011 (NNT)-Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Director-General Wiboon Sanguanpong said Phatthalung, Nakhon Si Thammarat and Surat Thani provinces had been flooded heavily while Chumphon was experiencing intermittent rains.

Mr. Wiboon added that provincial authorities in each province along with the disaster prevention centers had already been helping residents in inundated areas.

Meanwhile, Interior Minister Chavarat Charnvirakul has traveled to drought ridden Yasothon and Khon Kaen provinces to visit local residents and address water scarcity issue. Director-General Wiboon warned residents to mind their safety as rains could be continuously expected in the next 2 days
