Suvarnabhumi director confident: No flood at Thailand’s main international airport
BANGKOK, Oct 27 – Suvarnabhumi Airport, Thailand’s main international airport, has installed and activated flood prevention measures to brace for the possible flooding in its compound, Airport Director Anirut Thanomkulbutra said Wednesday.
Flying Officer Anirut mapped out precautionary measures by discussing plans with communities located near the airport as well as related agencies including the Royal Irrigation Department.
He said he is confident that the airport would not be affected by flooding as the airport currently has 23.5 kilometres of 3.5-metre-high flood prevention embankments surrounding it, and a water retention area with an extensive storage capacity, and an efficient drainage system, Mr Anirut said.
