Thai PM: Govt has no policy to issue amnesty bill for reconciliation

BANGKOK, 15 September 2010 (NNT) – Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva has confirmed that the Government has no policy to pardon any wrongdoer in political rallies for the sake of national reconciliation as proposed by the coalition Bhumjaithai Party.

Prime Minister Abhisit dismissed the policy to issue an amnesty bill for all wrongdoers in the past political rallies of all groups. He then voiced his belief that the society would not approve such an initiative either.

As for the rumored co-operation between the coalition Bhumjaithai Party and the opposition Pheu Thai Party to propose such a law in Parliament, the Prime Minister thought the news should not be possible as the Bhumjaithai should have placed greater emphasis to the stability of the Government.
