Royal Thai Navy rescues tourists stranded on Phang Nga island

PHANG NGA, 17 April 2013 (NNT) – The Royal Thai Navy has safely rescued hundreds of tourists stranded on two islands in the southern province of Phang-Nga due to a boat accident and a thunderstorm.

His Thai Majesty’s Ship (HTMS) Pattani rescued approximately 455 tourists from Tachai Island in Khura Buri district which is located 80 kilometers away from the mainland.

According to authorities, it took the navy officers two hours to transport travelers to Thab Lamu naval base in Phang-Nga’s Thai Muang district, due to rough sea and high waves.
