BANGKOK – A woman armed with a knife caused panic in Bangkok’s busy Sukhumvit area over the weekend, threatening passengers on a public bus and pedestrians on a footpath before being detained by police.
Calm Response Defuses Knife Incident on Bangkok Bus
Two videos shared on Facebook on Saturday captured separate incidents involving the same individual. The first clip shows the agitated woman threatening passengers on a bus with a knife. A quick-thinking bus attendant intervened, grabbing the woman’s hand, while the driver helped restrain her. She was then removed from the bus for the safety of other passengers and left on the footpath. According to the attendant, the woman had engaged in similar disruptive behavior in the past.
In the second video, a woman matching the same appearance is seen on a crowded Sukhumvit footpath waving a knife at pedestrians, including foreign tourists. One person managed to fend her off, while another fled onto the road. A woman browsing a vendor’s stall sustained a cut to her back during the altercation.
