Israeli Tourist Arrested at Phuket Airport for Carrying Loaded Ammunition Magazine
PHUKET – An Israeli national was taken into custody at Phuket International Airport on Wednesday after security screening discovered a loaded ammunition magazine in his luggage. The incident occurred around 4:30 PM as the 26-year-old tourist, arriving from Koh Samui on a Bangkok Airways flight, underwent a routine baggage check.

Airport security personnel detected a suspicious item within a black suitcase, which upon inspection was identified as a 5.56mm ammunition magazine containing 29 live rounds. Officers from the Sakhu Police Station were immediately notified and subsequently arrested the individual.

Police have charged the tourist with the illegal possession of ammunition, a serious offense under Thai law. He was informed of his legal rights and transported to Sakhu Police Station for processing and further questioning. Authorities emphasized that the incident was handled as a case of unlawful possession and stated there was no indication of a threat to airport safety or security.
