Man found dead in cassava field near Pattaya

CHONBURI – An unidentified man was found dead in a cassava field in Huai Yai subdistrict near Pattaya on Monday, prompting a police investigation. The body was discovered around 12:30 p.m. on January 19, 2026, along Thung Klom–Huai Yai Road.

Officers from Huai Yai Police Station arrived with forensic specialists, a doctor, and rescue workers. The man, estimated to be 40–45 years old, was lying on his back in a ditch wearing only dark blue underwear. Initial examination revealed no signs of assault, though there were marks on his left shoulder believed to be animal bites.

Authorities estimate the man had been dead for about two days. No identification documents were found, and local residents did not recognize him. The body was discovered by the owner of the cassava field during a routine inspection.

The remains have been sent to the Institute of Forensic Medicine at the Police General Hospital for further examination to determine identity and cause of death. The investigation continues.
