Located in Khao Sok, Surat Thani province, Wat Tham Phanthurat (วัดสกถ้ำพันธุรัตน์) became popular among tourists as the monkey temple. Years ago this temple was just a few Buddha images inside a cave placed on the slopes of a limestone plateau.

Wat Tam Pan Turat or Khao Sok Monkey Temple is inhabited by monkeys and aside visiting the temple, the main activity for tourists and local people is to feed the monkeys.

In 2012 began the construction of the temple which is funded by Buddhist devotees. At the time of writing (November 2014), the temple’s main building was still under construction.

The entrance fee is only 20 baht.
