Nearly 30,000 South Koreans gathered in downtown Seoul Saturday to demand that President Park Geun-hye step down from her post, the result of an ongoing scandal involving Park’s friend Choi Soon-sil.

The rally is the latest development in the scandal enveloping the éminence grise of South Korea, 60-year old Choi Soon-sil, over her influence over her longtime friend Park and the special favors she may have received as a result.
