The Royal Irrigation Department has allayed fear that the increased discharge of water from Pasak Cholasit dam in Lop Buri will lead to possible flooding in the economic zone or residential communities in Koh Kret district of Nonthaburi province.

Mr Thongplaew Kongchan, deputy director-general of the RID, explained on Sunday that the increased discharge of water from the Pasak Cholasit to 60 million cubic metre per day from about 55 million cubic metre was meant to maintain a balance of the inflow of water into the dam and the outflow of water from the dam because the dam is now almost full so that there will be space in the dam to absorb more water inflow.
