Special operations unit reclaims forest in Surat Thani

SURAT THANI, 22 July 2016 (NNT) – Forest police and administrative officials have joined forces to reclaim encroached areas of forest in Koh Pha Ngan District in Surat Thani Province.

The special operations unit called Phaya Sua has seized three land plots in Ban Hat Yang Forest which is to be declared part of Than Sadet–Ko Pha Ngan National Park. The land plots, covering 113 rai and one ngan, were earlier illegally turned into oil palm, bamboo and rubber plantations.
