Labor Ministry signs IUU combating agreement with EU and ILO

BANGKOK, 22 March 2016 (NNT) – The Ministry of Labor has announced it will be intensifying action against Illegal, Unreported and Unregulated (IUU) fishing after signing on to a cooperation with the European Union (EU) and International Labor Organization (ILO).

Labor Minister Gen Sirichai Distakul disclosed after opening the “Combating Unacceptable Forms of Work in the Thai Fishing and Seafood Industry” press event, where the ministry signed a memorandum of understanding with the EU and ILO to combat IUU fishing, that his ministry is ready to work against illegal fishing practices both domestically and with international assistance.
