Thai university student gets prison term of 2 years and 6 months for lese-majeste

BANGKOK, 4 November 2014 (NNT) – The Criminal Court in Ratchada has sentenced a university student to two and a half years jail without the possibility of reprieve, for posting defamatory messages online concerning the Royal Institution.

Criminal Court judges have sentenced 24 year-old Akaradech Eiamsuwan, a male student from an undisclosed private university to the prison term, on the grounds of lese-majeste and for violating Article 112 of the Computer Crimes Act.
