General Prayuth elected 29th Thai PM

BANGKOK, Aug 21 – National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO) leader and army chief Gen Prayuth Chan-ocha was on Thursday unanimously elected Thailand’s 29th prime minister by members of the National Legislative Assembly (NLA), three months after he led the military takeover that toppled an elected government.

A total of 191 NLA members voted for Gen Prayuth to become interim prime minister while three others including the Assembly president and two vice presidents abstained from voting.
