United Nations, many countries express concern over latest military coup in Thailand

BANGKOK, May 23 — The United Nations and many nations have expressed concern at the latest military coup in Thailand and called for a return to democracy in the Kingdom.

Army chief Gen Prayut Chan-Ocha announced the coup d’etat yesterday in a televised address to the nation, saying the armed forces had seized power in a military coup, two days after declaring martial law to end street protests, fatal violence and to restore stability and peace.
