Pheu Thai files petition for Democrat Party dissolution

BANGKOK, 5 February 2014 (NNT) – The Pheu Thai Party has filed a petition with the Election Commission requesting the dissolution of the Democrat Party.

Pheu Thai spokesperson Prompong Nopparit, filed the appeal containing documents and recent speeches made by Democrat party members on rally stages. He said that the party’s support for the People’s Democratic Reform Committee (PDRC) rallies violated Section 68 of the constitution.

He further claimed that twenty-five members of the party including party leader Abhisit Vejjajiva, had delivered speeches on stage endorsing the movement.
