Constitutional Court of Thailand rejects request to nullify February 2 snap poll

BANGKOK, Feb 12 – Thailand’s Constitution Court today rejected a request to invalidate the Feb 2 general election, reasoning there were insufficient grounds to prove an allegation of the government’s manoeuvring to acquire legitimacy to rule the country.

Wirat Kalayasiri earlier lodged a complaint with the court, charging caretaker Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra, the Cabinet and accomplices with violating the charter in their attempt to gain power to run the country.
