Thaksin cancels planned Myanmar trip for security reasons: Legal advisor
BANGKOK, Nov 6 – Thailand’s former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra has cancelled his planned trip to the Myanmar border town of Tachilek following reports of an assassination plot against him, but his scheduled meeting with Myanmar President Thein Sein in the capital remains in place, his legal advisor said on Tuesday.
Lawyer Noppadon Pattama said the deposed premier’s intended visit to Tachilek has been cancelled following Sunday’s arrest of an ethnic Shan suspect apprehended with military weapons including rocket-propelled grenades ahead of the fugitive ex-premier’s visit.
