Cabinet approves plan to withdraw Thai troops from Sudan

PHUKET, March 20 – The Cabinet has approved a plan on Tuesday to withdraw Thai-Darfur Task Force 980 from Sudan after completing its peacekeeping mission with African Union-United Nations Hybrid Operation in Darfur (UNAMID) according to Acting Government Spokesman Anusorn Eiamsa-ard.

Mr Anusorn said the Cabinet assigned the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to coordinate with the United Nations on the timeframe of the withdrawal and if possible, the government wanted the Thai troops to return home by May.
